From the cliffs to the castles, Ireland Elopements & Co turns breathtaking scenery into unforgettable stories.

At Ireland Elopements & Co, we craft unforgettable experiences for couples dreaming of eloping in Ireland — real moments, wild places, and stories that belong only to you.

Eloping in Ireland offers something completely different from traditional weddings. From dramatic cliffs and ancient castles to quiet, hidden landscapes, couples travel from the United States and around the world for something more personal, meaningful, and free.

When you work with Ireland Elopements & Co, you’re choosing expert planning guidance rooted in real local knowledge — from hidden locations and trusted creatives to understanding Ireland’s ever-changing light and weather. Every experience is designed to feel effortless, personal, and true to you.

We support you from the earliest ideas through to the day itself, shaping the locations, timing, trusted supplier recommendations, and natural flow of the experience. Where photography forms part of your plans, Shane Turner Photography captures it with a relaxed documentary approach — honest, atmospheric, and beautifully cinematic.

At Ireland Elopements & Co, we turn “let’s keep it simple” into something quietly extraordinary.

How It Works

01 5

At the heart of it all

This is about creating something that feels like you
— honest, personal, and deeply meaningful.

I’m Shane — an elopement planner and photographer based in Ireland, a storyteller at heart, and a husband and dad. Over the years, I’ve worked with couples from around the world who wanted something different: an unforgettable celebration that felt intimate, deeply personal and completely true to them. My documentary photography has also been featured in Vogue and leading international publications.

My role is to create world-class Ireland elopement experiences shaped around who you are. I take the time to understand what matters most to you, then bring together the locations, timing, local knowledge and natural flow needed to create a day that feels effortless, meaningful and entirely your own.

Frequently Asked Questions

Because no place on earth feels quite like it. Ireland is wild, romantic, and deeply soulful — it’s where love stories meet landscapes that feel pulled from a dream. From dramatic sea cliffs and quiet forest paths to ancient ruins and cozy firesides, every elopement here feels cinematic and personal. If you want a day that’s more about feeling than formality, Ireland delivers it naturally.

Yes — couples from abroad can legally elope in Ireland. You just need to register your intent to marry with the HSE at least three months before your date and submit a few documents. Many couples also choose to handle the legal part at home, then come to Ireland for a symbolic ceremony — that’s often simpler and just as meaningful.

A legal ceremony means your marriage is officially recognized by Irish law, performed by a registered celebrant with two witnesses present. A symbolic ceremony skips the paperwork — it’s all about the personal connection, and you can hold it anywhere: on a cliff edge, deep in a forest, or by candlelight in a castle ruin.

Yes — Irish law requires two witnesses for a legal marriage. If you’re eloping alone, witnesses can usually be arranged locally by your celebrant.

Most couples from the U.S., Canada, Australia, and the UK don’t need a visa to get married or visit Ireland. You’ll just need a valid passport and to follow the HSE marriage registration process. We’ll guide you through what’s required based on where you’re travelling from.

Yes — and the process there is slightly different. Northern Ireland has its own marriage laws, often simpler legally. The locations, like Dunluce Castle, Kinbane, and the Causeway Coast, are breathtaking, and we’ll guide you through whichever route fits your dream best.

You can, but if you want a legal Irish ceremony, your officiant must be registered in Ireland. You can always bring your own celebrant or friend for a symbolic ceremony — that’s very common and keeps things personal.

Absolutely. Ireland legalized same-sex marriage in 2015 and is one of the most welcoming countries in the world for LGBTQ+ couples. We work with inclusive celebrants and vendors who make everyone feel safe and celebrated.

Some locations require a permit or special permission, especially heritage sites or national parks. We’ll guide you through what may be required and help you understand the options for each location.

Ideally, six to twelve months ahead gives plenty of time for paperwork, travel, and suppliers, though we’ve also helped couples plan magical days in just a few weeks.
